【感知工業、醫療、智能家居與無人機舉動的「報馬仔」】

運動感測器 (Motion Sensors) 可不只有遊戲和娛樂的用途！它也是工業和醫療領域的好幫手！工廠的引擎、馬達、渦輪等具有反覆性動力源的機械常發生機械振動 (vibration) 現象，輕者將引發噪音或使用上的不便，重者會造成「共振」現象，使儀器功能失常，甚至破壞整體結構。就算未有明顯振動、只要機械姿態有變，重力分量亦會隨之不同。為及時掌握這些不利狀況並採取必要措施，借助運動感測器探知是有效的方法。

在醫療方面，根據美國疾病控制中心統計，單是在美國，每年就有近 100 萬個膝蓋和髖關節置換手術進行；不過，卻有約 30% 的膝關節置換手術，會因難以確切掌握骨骼內部架構細節而產生錯位。若手術前先以高精度微機電 (MEMS) 感測器追蹤病人的膝關節排列方向 (alignment) 和運動狀況，可精準定位並降低成本。至於消費市場，穿戴裝置、智能家居、智慧儀表等亦常用到三軸加速度計。

在智能家居的保全應用上，只要進入佈防狀態，一旦有人自門窗侵入就會產生振動，而這個振動可用 MEMS 加速度計捕捉到，再經由無線通訊啟動家裡的錄影機或自動與警察單位連線。此類產品的耐用年限短則一年，長則五年、十年起跳，因為沒人想頻繁更換門窗上的檢測設備或更換電池。此外，慣性量測單元 (IMU) 結合圖資軟體後，帶動導航輔助／航位推移 (dead passage) ／擴增實境(AR) 等創新應用，將觸角由平面 2D 空間延伸至立體 3D 空間。
